Palo Santo, also known as holy wood, has been revered for centuries for its many positive effects on body and soul. It is used in many traditional and shamanistic rituals, but even in modern day-to-day life the use of Palo Santo has many advantages.

The warm, sweet scent of Palo Santo has a positive, soothing effect on the mind. The scent creates a peaceful, warm atmosphere and brings calmness when feeling tense or sad. Because the smell of Palo Santo is soothing and promotes concentration, it is great to use during meditation, yoga, or studying and reading.

Burning Palo Santo

Palo Santo is burned, as with incense, to release the wonderful scent. To light the Palo Santo take a piece of wood and hold a match or lighter at the end until it starts burning. Let the wood burn until you see the core glow and then blow out the flame. Place the wood in a fireproof dish or plate. With the smoke, the smell of Palo santo spreads throughout the room. To intensify the smell, you can once again hold a flame by the stick and repeat the procedure.

You can also walk through a room with a blazing stick to spread the scent. Repeat as desired. With daily use, the space will fill with warmth and tranquility.
