In Het Nieuwe Yogaboek Johan Noorloos, the most famous yoga teacher in the Netherlands, brings the most important yoga styles back to their core. He forges essential elements from Iyengar yoga (technique), Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga (dynamics), Yin yoga (relaxation), Vipasana meditation and philosophy into a revolutionary new whole: Anicha yoga. 'Anicha' is Sanskrit for change.
Three personal goals are central to Anicha yoga: awareness, connection and freedom. When you become aware of your limits you can push them and you will be better able to connect with your deepest potential. Only then can you experience true freedom. Anicha yoga therefore also focuses on life after yoga, because according to Johan the real yoga only starts when you step off the mat.
The New Yoga Book offers extensive background information about the history of yoga, philosophy, meditation, the different yoga styles and the anatomy of the human body. This richly illustrated book is a must have for anyone curious about yoga, but also for the advanced yogi who wants to deepen his knowledge and improve his practice. It also contains useful tips for those who want to become a good yoga teacher themselves.
